Provincetown Plain Air Painting Trip 2010

Just came back from a painting trip to Provincetown, MA, a beautiful little town located on the tip of Cape Cod.

It's been quite awile since I've posted anything on my blog, not that there is nothing to post but just too much on my plate lately... I had to blog at least some pictures from this trip though :) .

It was so much fun painting and hanging out with this talented group of painters. Each day we'd go out on the streets and paint all kinds of unique spots in town, the fisherman's wharf had lot's of old rusty boats that were often subjects for our paintings. On a few rainy days we painted models indoors and at night we'd sometimes paint local fisherman and people from town, some evenings we'd paint each other.

New paintings would stack up around at night and I enjoyed seeing everyone's creations from each day. There was quite a variety of styles and subjects every artist painted and it was inspiring to see the different approaches and ideas...

I took many photos around town and plan to paint some larger paintings from the Fisherman's Wharf and other pretty unique street scenes.

Thank you again,

I think this is such a great "visual" for people who just don't understand why you can't "just take a photo and paint in your studio"! The colors in your painting are so vivid-the scene looks more "real" and "alive" than the "photographed scene" around it! Nice work as always!

Thanks for this new post, the photos are really good but the paintings are wonderful. Isn't being around other artists invigorating?
